I install the idk and ran the following: java -version -bash: java: command not found javac -version javac 1. I think the java 6 provided by apple caused me problems.
It installs in a different path than the Oracle supported versions. Since all of my files are constantly backed up that allows me to rapidly recover I just wiped the system. I am sure the JRE will work fine too but I went with your suggestion. After my install I reinstalled Zend Studio and it worked like a charm. I will post instruction to help those who may read this. You should be able to click select and chose your JRE version.
